Iron EDDHA chelate is a dark red, microgranular, water-soluble form of iron used to treat iron deficiency in crops through soil application. Containing 6% iron, it can be applied at any time, but is especially recommended in the spring before new growth begins or at planting, ensuring plants receive iron when their demand is highest. It is highly effective, even in soils with high pH levels. Iron deficiency often manifests as chlorosis (yellowing of leaves*), and using chelated iron can help correct this condition, improving plant health and productivity.

General Usage: Mix 25g Iron Chelate in 5 litres of water for the correction and prevention of iron deficiency in a wide range of agricultural and horticultural crops.

Aquariums:  Start with 1 teaspoon per 100 gallons of system water. Wait 2 hours. Repeat until a slightly red tint is visible. The red tint indicates plant available iron is present at satisfactory levels.

Your 250g chelated iron will come in a white container with a paper label on the front. It is normal for this container to be filled only halfway.

*IMPORTANT: Differentiating Between Nitrogen and Iron Deficiencies

To distinguish between nitrogen and iron deficiencies, consider the following:

  • Location on Plant: Nitrogen deficiency starts on older leaves, while iron deficiency starts on younger leaves.
  • Pattern of Chlorosis: Nitrogen deficiency causes uniform yellowing, whereas iron deficiency causes interveinal chlorosis with green veins and typically starts in the centre of the leaf.
  • Growth Impact: Both deficiencies can stunt growth, but nitrogen deficiency often results in more generalized poor plant vigor.
