Canna - Start
CANNA Start is a complete one-part nutrient formulated specifically for seedlings and rooted cuttings. Young plants have different nutritional requirements than established plants, and simply diluting a regular vegetative fertilizer can leave them with an unbalanced supply of essential nutrients. CANNA Start provides a complete nutrient formula designed for this early stage of growth.
It is ideal for growers starting plants from seed, rooting their own cuttings, or establishing young plants in small containers before transplanting them into their final growing system.
Made for Seedlings & Rooted Cuttings
Young plants need enough nutrition to support healthy new growth without the higher nutrient strength normally used during established vegetative growth. CANNA Start is designed to provide an appropriate balance of nutrients during propagation and early establishment, helping reduce the risk of both overfeeding and nutrient deficiency.
- Complete one-part nutrient — no separate A and B components
- Formulated for seedlings and rooted cuttings
- Suitable for plants being established before transplanting
- Provides a complete range of essential plant nutrients
- Works with a variety of common propagation media
Propagation Media
CANNA Start can be used with many common propagation substrates, including:
- Rockwool plugs and cubes
- Coco pellets and plugs
- Jiffy-style propagation plugs
- Seed-starting mixes
- Other drain-to-waste propagation media
CANNA Start is not intended for recirculating hydroponic systems or aeroponic clone machines.
CANNA Start vs. RHIZOTONIC
CANNA Start is a nutrient, not a rooting additive. It supplies young plants with nutrition during the propagation and establishment stage.
For growers who also want to use a root-support product, CANNA Start can be combined with CANNA RHIZOTONIC. The two products perform different jobs: CANNA Start supplies plant nutrition, while RHIZOTONIC is CANNA's root-zone and plant-vigour additive.
How to Use CANNA Start
| Dilution | 1:250 |
| Metric Dose | 40 mL per 10 L of water |
| US Dose | 15 mL per US gallon |
| Recommended pH | 5.2–6.2 |
| Typical Final EC | 0.7–1.3 mS/cm, including the starting EC of the water |
| Drainage | CANNA recommends approximately 10% drain |
- Shake the bottle well before use.
- Fill the nutrient reservoir or watering container with water.
- Add CANNA Start at 40 mL per 10 L of water.
- Mix thoroughly and check the final pH.
- Apply to seedlings or rooted cuttings in a suitable propagation medium.
When Do I Stop Using CANNA Start?
CANNA Start is intended for the propagation and early-establishment stage. Once seedlings or rooted cuttings are established and transplanted into their final growing medium, switch to the appropriate vegetative CANNA base nutrient for that system:
- CANNA TERRA for peat-based potting mixes
- CANNA COCO for coco
- CANNA SUBSTRA for run-to-waste inert systems
- CANNA AQUA for recirculating hydroponic systems
In short: CANNA Start bridges the gap between propagation and regular vegetative feeding, giving seedlings and rooted cuttings a complete nutrient formula without requiring growers to dilute a stronger adult-plant fertilizer.
Storage & Handling
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Store in a dark place away from extremes of heat and cold.
- Avoid over-fertilization.
- If the solution contacts skin or eyes, rinse with water.
